Like other years, the 2024 Major League Baseball season unites America's favorite pastime with the universally loved Star Wars universe with special events, games, and giveaways. Teams across the league are hosting special Star Wars-themed games, offering fans a blend of baseball action and intergalactic entertainment. Lots of these take place on May the 4th, but other dates throughout the year work too as special Star Wars events for some teams.
I was curious if the Cubs will host a Star Wars event (they won't, boo) or be the visitors during another team's event (thank you, Braves). I did the research so here's your ultimate guide to the 2024 MLB Star Wars celebrations.
Arizona Diamondbacks The Diamondbacks are inviting fans to a special game on Saturday, July 13, against the Toronto Blue Jays, complete with a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Stormtrooper Bobblehead to commemorate the night. The giveaway will be given out to the first 20,000 fans.
Atlanta Braves On Tuesday, May 14, the Braves will battle it out against my Chicago Cubs, offering fans a Braves Clone Trooper Bobblehead that combines the thrill of baseball with the allure of Star Wars collectibles. A special ticket package is required for this giveaway.
Boston Red Sox The Red Sox are set to host the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, April 30. Fans can look forward to receiving a Red Sox Mandalorian Caped T-Shirt, merging the iconic Red Sox spirit with the legendary Mandalorian armor. This giveaway is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A VIP package, which currently shows being sold out, can be purchased in addition, which includes a special Red Sox Mandalorian jersey shirt with a matching jetpack backpack. This promotion mentions the 501st will be on hand for photo ops -- I suspect the 501st will be at other team events as well.
Cincinnati Reds & Cleveland Guardians: May the Fourth Be With You The Reds and the Guardians are celebrating Star Wars on the official Star Wars Day, May the 4th. The Reds (playing the Orioles) will provide fans with a Star Wars Reds T-Shirt (while supplies last), while the Guardians are offering a Steven Kwan “Obi-Kwan Kenobi” Bobblehead (special ticket purchase required).
Colorado Rockies: Anniversary Extra Join the Rockies on Saturday, July 20, for their 10th annual Star Wars night at Coors Field. Fans who attend the game against the Giants will receive not one, but two Star Wars-themed items: a Star Wars Beach Towel (first 10,000 fans) and a Star Wars Themed Rockies T-Shirt (separate theme ticket purchase required), ensuring fans remember this epic day.
Houston Astros From May 3-5, the Astros are treating fans to a weekend-long celebration, featuring a Kyle Tucker Jedi Bobblehead as a ticket add-on for any of the three nights. Photo ops are also available before the games on Saturday and Sunday (guessing the 501st). Don't miss this epic three-game series against the Mariners.
Kansas City Royals The Royals, facing the Texas Rangers on Saturday, May 4, will gift fans who purchase of a theme ticket with a Jedi Bobby Witt Jr. Bobblehead, perfect for Royals supporters and Star Wars enthusiasts alike.
Los Angeles Angels The Angels have planned a two-day Star Wars weekend event from April 26-27. Friday's game will light up with a special 800-drone light show. Saturday's game features a Mandalorian Rally Monkey giveaway, though there are no details provided on how this giveaway works.
Los Angeles Dodgers On Monday, May 6, the Dodgers invite fans to a special evening at the Dodger Stadium, featuring a cool statue of the stadium with the Millennium Falcon parked on top. New York Yankees The Bronx Bombers are set to celebrate Star Wars Day on Saturday, May 4. They'll be giving away a Gerrit Cole Jedi Bobblehead to the first 18,000 fans, merging the worlds of baseball and Jedi mastery as they take on the Detroit Tigers.
Oakland Athletics The Athletics are not left behind in the Star Wars mania, offering a Star Wars Athletics reversible bucket hat to early arriving fans attending their game against the Miami Marlins on Saturday, May 4. It's sure to be a hit, both for shade and style!
Philadelphia Phillies Later in the summer, on Monday, August 26, the Phillies will honor their Star Wars fans with a special Ranger Suarez Mandalorian Bobblehead, for the first 4,000 fans, as they play the Houston Astros.
Pittsburgh Pirates Join the Pirates on Saturday, May 4, when they battle the Colorado Rockies and give away a Mitch Keller Star Wars Bobblehead. A special ticket is required to receive this giveaway.
San Diego Padres The Force will be strong at Petco Park from July 5th to 7th when the Padres host the Arizona Diamondbacks and present fans with a Nando Calrissian Bobblehead (special ticket required). And last but not least, the best-sounding event of all teams is this weekend-long celebration from the Nats, offering free giveaways two nights (no special tickets required) plus fun themed fireworks to kick off the weekend.
Washington Nationals The Nationals are set to dazzle fans with a Star Wars-themed weekend from May 3rd to 5th as they play against the Toronto Blue Jays. Expect themed fireworks that light up the sky with a Star Wars audio accompaniment. Saturday's giveaway to the first 15,000 fans is an X-Wing Pilot Finnegan Bobblehead. Sunday the first 15,000 fans will be offered a Dark Side vs Light Side Beanie.
